Vocabulary - Phrases and Descriptive Words

A few ways to compliment physical attributes:

"You have a nice smile."

"You have beautiful skin."

"You have lovely hair."

"I like the color of your eyes."

"You are handsome." Beautiful and lovely are usually said about females. Handsome usually refers to a male.

In the USA, the correct response to a compliment is "Thank you" or "Thank you very much." In Asian cultures it may be considered polite to deny compliments by responding with self put-downs.

1. SEX/GENDER: boy, girl, man, woman, male, female, masculine, feminine

2. AGE: young, old, baby, toddler, child,teenager, young adult, adult, middle-aged, senior adult, elderly.

3. HEIGHT: short, not too short, very short, medium height, tall, not too tall, very tall

4. WEIGHT: thin, slim, skinny, average, fat, (This is not polite to say about people.), heavyset, portly, stout.

5. EYE COLOR: black, blue, green, hazel, brown

6. OTHER FEATURES: beard, mustache, goatee, glasses, freckles, dimples [Video]

7. HAIR COLOR: black, brown, blonde, red, gray, white

8. HAIR TYPE: straight, curly, wavy, long, short, bald, balding

1. In these twelve lessons we have seen God's plan unfold. Before His betrayal by Judas His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, His mock trial, His crucifixion, and His resurrection, Jesus told His followers what would happen.
